Blessed are the forgetful, for they get the better even of their blunders

After my last post, I though "Woo hoo! Two posts in one month, I'm improving!". Unfortunately I've now slipped back into my old habit of writing a blog post when someone (my mum) reminds me that I have not done so. Apologies, dear readers, it's been a month.

I often find myself, whilst on the phone with my beloved friends or family, racking my brains and saying "No I don't think I've done much more else really" and then they say "Not much has happened here". This is actually a completely absurd falsehood on my part, because I mostly can't remember what I have been doing and it's nothing to do with how much stuff I do. I pause for a minute here, because I know this statement will feed back to an ongoing banter between me and my Significant Other (SO). I have forgotten one or two minor things recently, or have done them absent mindedly and therefore didn't even register them, and he's taken to saying "Well, you do forget things now..." as if I have reached some irreversible new level of senility.
However, I don't get much time to reflect on how cool my life is, how action packed, how easy, how 'different'.. or even how privileged I am. Madagascar helped with that. I'm currently on Round Island, a place not even Mauritians are allowed to visit, and that helps too.
So here is a list of cool stuff I have done since my last post, 26 days ago:
Visited Andasibe National Park in Madagascar
Seen a boa constrictor
Seen an Indri Indri (type of lemur)
Had my wife, Helen, come to stay with me in Mauritius
Hung out on the beautiful beach and by the pool at my SO’s house in the baking sun
Walked in Black River Gorges National Park where we saw the endemic Echo Parakeet
Watched the sunset at La Morne
Had sundowners with my MWF buddies
Fed the orphaned baby Mauritian fruit bats
Eaten a lot of chinese food, boulettes and roti
Visited Port Louis
Went to the best house party I’ve been to in absolutely ages, with the MWF staff in Flic en Flac
Finished and submitted my final Post Grad Diploma assignments
Started working part time at Casela Nature Park
Fed pygmy hippos, baby goats, parrots and lemurs
Did the zip lining, 45m canyon swing, lion interaction (which I’m not sure I agree with), safari, quad biking and segway for free
Did some conservation work (in case you think it’s all just playing with goats)
Had lots of french lessons
Became a werewolf in Skyrim
Celebrated Divali by driving around to see all the lights on peoples houses, then eating Dholl Puri.
Visited Round Island in Mauritius
Patted some tortoises
Helped with sea bird surveys
Carried out surveys of the Round Island boa (snake)
Errr. I guess that’s a lot of stuff?
